River Dragon ~ A Real Florida Fairy Tale receives 2004 Florida Palm Award

"Annie," the landmark Merritt Island dragon statue, will be remembered forever especially now that 'River Dragon' took Second Place in the Children's category from the Florida Writer's Association.
Florida Today (Friday, November 26, `04): "River Dragon ~ A Real Florida Fairy Tale scored second place in the children's category for the Florida Writers Association's 2004 Florida Palm Awards.  The children's book, written by Diane Carr and her daughter, Kira Earley, and illustrated by John Goldacker, all of Merritt Island, concerns the charm of the dragon constructed at the southern tip of Merritt Island.  The dragon crumbled into the water in 2002, rendering legend out of the concrete rubble." ~ Pam Harbaugh, Culture Cues
